Sara completed a PhD in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering from Trinity College Dublin, with a thesis titled “Numerical modelling of directional solidification in metal alloys”. As part of her doctoral studies, she developed a number of CFD models in Fortran for the prediction of grain structure evolution, heat transfer, and fluid flow during multi-component alloy solidification processes under different gravity conditions. Prior to this, she received her BSc in Aerospace Engineering and MSc in Aeronautical Engineering from the University of Rome “La Sapienza”.
Sara has joined ESIPP as a postdoctoral researcher in 2018, working at the Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering department in Trinity College. Her focus is the numerical investigation of thermo-fluid flow in data centre server-blades, with the objective of enhancing air flow management to maximize the potential for waste heat recovery.
